Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Shamshabad Zone Team, in coordination with Pahadishareef Police, has busted a gang involved in a series of auto-rickshaw and vehicle battery theft cases and arrested two accused persons. Another accused is absconding.

The arrested have been identified as Mohd Akber (35), a labourer from Chintalmet, Bahadurpura, and Faizullah Khan @ Faiz (42), a flower businessman from Mahmood Nagar, Kishanbagh. The absconding accused has been identified as Mohd Hameeduddin @ Imran (27), an auto driver from Jirrah, Hyderabad.

Police seized three Bajaj passenger auto-rickshaws and nine vehicle batteries (tractor and DCM vehicles), collectively worth about ₹7 lakh, from their possession.

According to police, the accused are habitual offenders previously involved in vehicle battery theft cases under Adibatla Police Station limits. During their earlier remand at Central Prison, Chanchalguda, they allegedly came into contact and conspired to commit further property offences after release.

After coming out of prison, the trio allegedly committed multiple auto thefts in Jadcherla, Mahabubnagar Rural, and Mahabubnagar Town areas. They also targeted parked DCM trucks and tractor vehicles in Medchal, Tukkuguda, and Maheshwaram limits, stealing batteries.

Several cases of auto and battery thefts have been registered against them at Maheshwaram, Medchal, Pahadishareef, Jadcherla, and Mahabubnagar police stations.

Acting on credible information, the Shamshabad Zone Task Force along with Pahadishareef Police apprehended two accused and recovered the stolen property. Efforts are on to trace the absconding accused.

Police said Mohd Akber is involved in three property offence cases, while Faizullah Khan has around fifteen such cases against him.
